The wire and cable industry accelerates the green wave

The pollution in the conventional wire and cable production process is quite serious; it also produces a large amount of toxic substances during manufacture, use and disposal: dioxin, lead, halogen, etc. In recent years, countries such as Europe, the United States and Japan have attached great importance to the pollution related to wires and cables. Their governments have not only imposed strict restrictions on the emissions from the manufacturing process of wires and cables, but also implemented comprehensive monitoring of the disposal of waste wires and cables. Cable manufacturers use materials that meet environmental protection requirements to replace traditional materials to manufacture environmentally friendly wire and cable or "clean wire and cable products" and "green wire and cable products". According to the market survey of the relevant departments, Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries have higher and higher requirements for the cables used. The relevant regulations of the above countries clearly indicate that wire and cable products must meet the requirements of low toxicity, flame retardant, low smoke generation when burning, no or less corrosive gas and harmful halogen gas, no lead and other heavy metals, no soil pollution, Standards such as high heat-resistant temperature and recyclability of waste wire and cable materials, especially the safety and non-toxicity of products, etc.

Not only is the market of developed countries so regulated, but also the Olympic Games, which are directly in line with international standards, also put forward high requirements for environmental protection. "In 2008, the Olympic Village will use all environmentally friendly building materials, and non-environmentally friendly cables will not have any chance." The Beijing Municipal Government promised the International Olympic Committee.

In fact, as early as 1998, the Beijing Power Supply Bureau issued a document stating that PVC cables are prohibited in the systems under its jurisdiction; in 2001, relevant departments in my country promulgated relevant standards for low-smoke halogen-free materials for optical cables; in the same year, the Ministry of Public Security promulgated flame retardant And fire-resistant cable classification and related requirements, starting from the end of 2002, the use of non-environmentally friendly cable products such as PVC is prohibited in large public venues in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities; in 2010, the Shanghai World Expo will also use environmentally friendly cable products. With the introduction of relevant national policies, in the near future, my country's construction, transportation, communication, power supply and other departments will also pay more attention to the application of environmentally friendly cables.

It is not difficult to see from the regulations promulgated by the state that the use of environmentally friendly products will become the general trend, and the development of green and environmentally friendly wires and cables has become a top priority for enterprises.

Therefore, the implementation of EU directives has objectively promoted the technical improvement and product structure adjustment of China's wire and cable industry, forcing my country's wire and cable industry to take "green" as its life, manufacture environmentally friendly products, and participate in the international market at a higher level competition. As the implementation deadline of the EU RoHS directive approaches, the wire and cable industry will set off a "green wave". Experts point out that at this critical moment, whoever's products are more "green" will get the most benefit. Wire and cable manufacturers should take measures as soon as possible to accelerate the pace of independent innovation, rapidly improve their ability to face international competition, and actively respond to the challenges of new markets.

Developed countries such as Europe, the United States and Japan, various types of wires and cables for various purposes, such as high and low voltage power cables, control cables, communication cables, marine cables, vehicle cables, high-frequency coaxial cables, local telephone cables, instrumentation cables Environmental protection products have been widely used in cables, branch cables for construction, optical cables, as well as supporting tapes, connectors, and terminals for environmentally friendly wires and cables.

To produce environmentally friendly wire and cable products, we must start from the source, and insist on avoiding the generation of harmful substances throughout the production process. Green wire and cable products are the carriers of circular economy. The key to realizing the greening of products is to start with design. Green design or ecological design takes the environment as the core, and uses the product life cycle evaluation technology to unify many partial design methods in contemporary design methods into a whole, so as to achieve the overall optimum. my country's wire and cable industry is still in its infancy in terms of ecological design, and relevant government departments and local agencies have made relevant regulations.

At present, Beijing and Shanghai have banned the use of PVC non-environmentally friendly wires and cables, and railway, communications and other departments have also issued relevant regulations. In the next few years, my country's construction, transportation, transportation, communication departments and all major The power supply department of medium-sized cities will also implement a complete ban on the use of non-environmentally friendly wires and cables.
